Food insecurity is when people can’t access the food they need to live their best lives.  Food insecurity has many causes, and it’s a big problem in the United States. People facing hunger struggle with high living costs, expensive housing, unemployment, and restricted incomes. Even people with a steady income and access to affordable housing can experience a temporary setback that leads to food insecurity.

At CoAction, we help address food insecurity so that people can flourish.  The following opportunities and resources help address nutritional needs in Northwest Indiana.

  • WIC provides nutrition support for pregnant moms and families with infants or children up to age 5.
  • Meals at a local senior center provide the chance for older adults to socialize and meet their nutritional needs.
  • We provide home-delivered meals for older adults and individuals with disabilities who can’t get to a senior center.
