Housing

Helping neighbors in NWI gain access to safe affordable housing

Housing is the largest household expense for most Americans. 1 in 3 households struggle with housing costs that jeopardize their financial security. It’s a critical problem for low-income families and for the 1 in 4 renters who spend more than half of their income on housing.

At CoAction, we know that financial stability starts with affordable stable housing. To help our neighbors in Northwest Indiana with access to safe affordable housing, we offer the following opportunities and resources:

  • Housing Development
  • Affordable Rentals
  • Supportive Housing
  • Housing Choice Vouchers
  • Home modifications and energy efficiency
  • Housing Counseling Services and support for people experiencing homelessness

Stories

Some of our clients are not able to work due to crisis or disability. Some clients are professionals with college degrees who’ve hit hard times. Many clients are working or underemployed at minimum wage, struggling to support themselves or their families.

Funded in part by state and federal grants, CoAction is sustained by community volunteers, local partners, and donors like you. As our community works together to resolve homelessness where we live, everyone benefits. Will you help resolve and prevent homelessness in our community? Make a tax-deductible donation today.
